NEW HOPE, MN

Midwest retail chain Hy-Vee is taking a page out of fast-casual’s book. Courting convenience alongside consumers’ desire for fresh groceries, Hy-Vee is set to debut a drive-through kiosk at its New Hope, Minnesota, store.

As reported by local news outlet CCX Media, the new drive-through kiosk will be located in a parking lot not connected to the store. It will feature three lanes for its customers that shop using Hy-Vee’s online grocery program, Aisles Online. The news source reported that the groceries being picked up will be sourced from the warehouse, not the store itself. This move will help minimize the amount of professional shoppers in the store and cut down on any potential checkout congestion.

Although other retailers like Walmart and Target have beat Hy-Vee to the proverbial online order punch, this move highlights the grocer’s commitment to serving its customers the latest and greatest in grocery innovation.

Will some of its other stores soon follow suit? Deli Market News will continue to report.
